Castle-an-Dinas quarry is located off the B3311 on the Downs above Penzance and Mounts Bay.
There is a Neolithic fortification at the highest point of the Downs, hence the Celtic name of Castle-an-Dinas, showing that man has used the stone throughout the evolution of civilisation. The quarry has been in existence since before the turn of the century up to the present day, supplying the local market with stone for all uses, from building stone, road stone and to aggregates. |
